Event Curator Interview

Rosa Armstrong is a 27-year-old nurse. Rosa wanted to host a fundraising event that was different and fun, not the typical walk or bake sale idea . She wanted an event to bring more awareness to young people. Cancer runs in Rosa's family. At a very young age, she was forced to deal with loosing her 27 year old cousin to cervix cancer. Rosa tells us how many people deal with someone close having cancer differently. One must stay strong and be supportive as it's very hard on both parties. Rosa advises to stay on top of health and get routine check ups. There are so many men that do not like going to doctors but it is actually very important. It's better to find a problem in the early stages and getting it treated than finding out too late.

Ten (10) all female teams will compete for the gold in a flag football fundraiser. Teams are headed by the most relevant social media stars and socialites of today. Our fundraising event combines the dual mind-set of this generation – fun and technology! The fundraiser is intended to empower young adults in a meaningful way, an event that’s multi-faceted, empowering, fun, invigorating, and life changing. Although this is a one-day tournament we seek to effect wide spread long-term change in the way young adults see cancer, hear of cancer, and take care of themselves and each other.
We believe passionately that this generation has been called to step-up now. It is our duty, to effect change in a fun and meaningful way. We believe in the strength of numbers. This isn’t just your grandparents’ illness, and this surely is not your grandparents revolution. We have been given so many tools to effect change in a modern way it’s amazing.

About StupidCaner
StupidCancer, was founded in 2007, is concerned directly with young adults, 18 – 40, a largely unknown group in the war on cancer, who account for 72,000 new diagnoses each year. That’s one every eight minutes. It’s also seven times more than all pediatric cancers combined. This is not OK! StupidCancer needs financial support to continue fulfilling it’s unique mission. Fundraisers like this enables StupidCancer to reach so many more young adult survivors who, deserve to know that an organization is here to help them to get busy living.
